TB Awareness and Screening Programme at Municipal Council Kolonnawa
The National Programme for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD), together with the District Chest Clinic (DCC) Colombo, conducted a TB awareness and screening programme at the Municipal Council Kolonnawa. This initiative aimed to enhance public awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and facilitate early detection through comprehensive screening services.
Special emphasis was placed on high-risk groups, including municipal employees, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions.
As part of the screening process, the DCC Colombo medical team conducted sputum testing, chest X-rays, and clinical evaluations to identify potential TB cases. Individuals who required further assessment were referred for follow-up care and treatment.
