TB Awareness Programme at Welikada Prison by NPTCCD
The National Programme for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD) conducted a TB awareness programme at Welikada Prison, focusing on educating inmates and prison staff on tuberculosis prevention, early detection, and treatment.
Prison populations are at higher risk of TB due to overcrowding, limited healthcare access, and prolonged close contact. This programme aimed to enhance awareness of TB symptoms, transmission, and the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment adherence among both inmates and prison officers.
