World TB Day 2025 – TB Awareness Walk & Stakeholder Meeting
To commemorate World TB Day 2025, the National Programme for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD) organized a TB Awareness Walk on 25th March 2025, under the global theme:
“Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver.”
A Collective Effort to End TB
The walk was graced by Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Deputy Minister of Health and Mass Media, along with officials from the Ministry of Health and WHO representatives etc…
Spreading Awareness
A mobile health education campaign ran alongside the walk, using a specially equipped vehicle and loudspeakers to deliver key messages on TB prevention, symptoms, and the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.
Stakeholder Meeting at NHSL OPD Auditorium
Following the walk, a stakeholder meeting was held at the NHSL OPD Auditorium, where key stakeholders expressed their views on TB prevention.
The event also included a felicitation ceremony to honor retired professionals who have played a significant role in TB prevention and cure in Sri Lanka, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the national TB control program.
