TB Screening and Awareness Programme at Nawagampura
The National Programme for Tuberculosis Control and Chest Diseases (NPTCCD), in collaboration with the District Chest Clinic (DCC) Colombo, conducted a TB screening and awareness programme today at Nawampura, Colombo 14. This initiative aimed to educate the community on tuberculosis (TB), promote early detection, and provide free screening services to high-risk individuals.
As part of the programme, the DCC Colombo medical team conducted symptom-based screenings, sputum sample collection, and chest x ray. High-risk individuals, including elderly residents and individuals with chronic illnesses were prioritized for further diagnostic assessments. Chest X-rays were performed using the ‘Pulmo Express’ vehicle-based mobile chest X-ray unit, ensuring convenient access to advanced screening facilities.
